“I’ve got Google Analytics installed, but we haven’t looked at it in a while…”
Sound familiar? I bet you’ve forgotten the login details too.
Like most people, you’ve managed to install web analytics software, but that’s about as far as it goes. Occasionally you might log in when sales are slow, just to make sure traffic hasn’t completely dried up, but other than that it’s mostly forgotten about.
There’re plenty of viable reasons why you don’t spend endless hours analysing your site traffic. It takes time to interpret the data properly and let’s face it, spare time isn’t something any of us have. It also helps to know what you’re looking at, so if you’re not familiar with the interface or the terminology, you’re not going to be that motivated to look at it. Or perhaps you’re someone who does regularly spend time in analytics but you struggle to draw any concrete conclusions and never move forward.
These are all good reasons for you to turn a blind eye to website performance, but they’re not good enough reasons to ignore it completely. It’s simply far too important to ignore, and you know it.
There’s most likely someone on your website right now. How did they get there? What are they reading about? Why haven’t they enquired? Where did they go next? The answers to even these simple questions could help you enormously, imagine what would happen if we really got under the bonnet.
You’ve invested a significant amount of money developing your website. Don’t ignore it – let’s make sure it’s doing it’s job.
