As a self taught SEO consultant (like most) I did most of my learning by building and optimising my own websites (using a brilliant tool called XSitePro, which is now unavailable). One of the first websites I built was about fitness and nutrition as I knew (or thought I knew!) a lot about this area. I ended up building 20-30 websites on various different topics and these become invaluable for testing ideas and watching the impact of Google updates.
Over the years, my client base grew and the ‘test’ sites became a little neglected, to the point were all the traffic just completely disappeared. A shame really as one or two of them were attracting quite large amounts of Organic traffic and I’m disappointed in myself for just watching them fade away.
The value they offered me as an SEO consultant and my clients was fantastic and so I’ve decided to take on a number of new SEO ventures to both a) earn some additional income and b) test ideas and monitor the impact of Google updates. I also think it would be good for clients and potential clients to see me practicing what I preach and give them a unique insight into how I go about growing Organic traffic.
As with my very first batch of websites, I’ll be using slightly different SEO strategies on each. The site I’m working on at the moment is called Max Pressure Washers and this one offers domestic, semi professional and commercial pressure washers to the UK. The idea is to (eventually) make it as straightforward as possible to buy the right pressure washer for how you intend to use it. As of today (16th September 2016) the site isn’t quite finished, but I’m getting there and we’ll soon be open for business.
I will update on the progress of all of these new sites and especially look forward to reporting on SEO strategies and tactics that work well.
